Allied Signal acquired the $4 billion Bendix Corporation in 1982. Bendix had a division in Sidney, New York, which supplied electronic interconnect products to the Mil/Aero industry. As CEO of Amphenol, Arneson was tasked with merging this $100 million (annual sales) division into Amphenol Corporation. It is common knowledge that one of the biggest risks in mergers and acquisitions is the important task of preserving the success and talent of the acquired business. This task requires careful thought and planning. The Bendix Mil/Aero division was successfully integrated into Amphenol and today is one of Amphenol's biggest revenue and profit contributors.
